Do You Like Tilapia? Discover The Tilapia Health Risks And Reconsider Your Choice!

There are many Tilapia health risks that you’re not aware of. Look at them and see whether you’re allowed to consume it as much as you do.

Balanced food should always be the goal of any individual, in that we are clear. But the problem arises when foods that are healthy in the food pyramid can intoxicate you.

This is the case of Tilapia, a freshwater fish with an incredible adaptation to any environment. It is an aquaculture fish, adapts to salt water, sweet and brackish, little oxygenated, with different temperatures. Tilapia can weigh up to three kilos inside an aquarium.

It is a really economic fish, because its cultivation is very profitable. In addition, the population in mass buys it. The largest importer of Tilapia is the United States, but any industrial product from a hatchery is fattened quickly for its prompt consumption.

Tilapia health risks

It is fattened with genetically modified maize and soy. Remember, we’re talking about a fish that in its natural, wild state, feeds on larvae, algae or marine insects. When you modify your diet, the fish is fattened producing large amounts of toxins that we consume daily. Watch out how you consume it and see all the tilapia health risks.

1. Cholesterol Level

When you eat Tilapia, it increases your cholesterol. Therefore it worsens all tissues prone to inflammation, leading to arthritis, asthma or heart problems.

2. Favors the production of free radicals

Given so much fat, Tilapia favors the production of cancer cells, leaving you prone to cancer.

3. Useless fatty acids

Being a fish of hatchery, its production of Omega 3 is ridiculously useless, because its food does not come from algae or proteins like larvae. They have an artificial feeding.

4. Contains pesticides and lots of antibiotics

When the fish are in industrial breeding grounds, the fish do not die by natural selection. They give them chemicals to guarantee their production; therefore you do not consume any nutrients.

5. Contains dibutyltin

A chemical used to build materials of PVC, a type of plastic, which for the body is toxic.

6. Presence of Dioxins

It is another highly toxic chemical they use in the fish farms. Research shows that dioxin produces cancer.
