Stress relief techniques by Dr. A.George

Nowadays, we all know how badly stress can influence our lives, and we know that stress is the enemy, literally. You go to the doctor’s, you complain about having a headache, “It’s stress”. Or, you’re having a serious health issue, and again, the doctor says “It’s stress”. You’re fired during a huge meeting, the boss says “You’re too stressed”. Even worse, you’re on a parents meeting in your child’s school and a fellow parent asks you to calm down “They’re only kids, don’t stress about it.” You argue with your partner about why they bought white instead of orange napkins, they say “Don’t get all stressed about it, I can change them”. Well, yeah, they all have a point: you should just realize it. We’ll help you recognize and fight stress just in a few steps. Once you read about them and try them, your life will change completely.

Recognizing stress

Your muscles are tight, your head aches, your heart beating is accelerating and your blood pressure is high – pal, you’re under a lot of stress, all right! When you have at least one of these symptoms, you should know that you need to calm down. But, there are even some external symptoms that can be seen on people when they are stressed.  Their nostrils are wide, their face turns red, their breathing changes, they move their hands uncontrollably and their eyes are heavy. Look yourself in the mirror. If you seem like you’re having one of these symptoms, you should probably ask for our help, and we’ll gladly give it to you.

Stress management

1. Yoga

Probably, the most known technique about stress management is yoga. Yoga helps you minimize stress, feel calm and relaxed. Mmm, sounds impossible right? We all lead a stressful life, and being relaxed just seems not normal. But, if you do have time for yourself at least once a day, try yoga.  Your whole perspective about life will improve.

2. Senses

However, we cannot all afford an hour of our busy lives to do yoga, honestly. Imagine you’re at work, something pisses you off; you cannot really sit down and meditate in front all of your colleagues. But, you can easily use your senses to help you out fighting stress. If you’re an aural person, maybe is time to put a playlist with your favorite, tranquilizing songs on your phone. All you need is headphones and that’s it; go to the nearest rest room, play at least one of them and you’ll see that your mood will change in an instant.

3. Material things

If you’re a visual person, try packing a few things that remind you of your happiest moments: a photo, a book, an accessory of some kind, some ornament, or some piece of cloth… Seeing something that brings good memories to mind only by closing your eyes for a minute is a great stress management technique.

4. Activity

If you are more of a kinesthetic person, you’ll need to do something that involves moving your body in order to calm yourself. Whether it is dancing, running, jumping, stretching or simply squeezing something, it is your choice.  No matter what you choose, no matter how much time or space you have at your disposal, try something that you find pleasing and calming. You’ll feel better, we guarantee you.

5. Do what makes you happy

When it comes to touch or taste, it’s even easier. Make yourself a big cup of tea or coffee that you adore, make a massage appointment to the nearest spa or just soak yourself in a nice, hot bath with scented products. There’s nothing better than doing the “forbidden pleasures” that you rarely make time for in your daily routines.

6. Sleep

Last but not least, sleep. A good sleep can even prevent situations that might cause stress, but also is a powerful tool in facing stress. At least 6 to 8 hours of sleep are necessary for the body and the brain to function normally. And of course, nothing can replace the feeling of being rested and ready to grab the bull by the horns.

7. Sex

And finally, sexual intercourse is a well-known stress relief tool. You’ve heard about the happiness hormones? Well, getting involved in a sexual intercourse helps you release those hormones who instantly lift your spirit and make you forget about all the problems in your life. In addition, making love also gives you the feeling of being protected, loved and able to fight each obstacle that comes on your way. So, give some love people!
