How to eat healthy on Thanksgiving day? Seems impossible, right? Well, there are some tricks on what to eat and what to avoid!
Eating healthy on holidays? Seems like an impossible thing to do. Everything is delicious but also unhealthy, to be real.
However, there are some tricks you could use to have a nice, holiday dinner with your loved ones while eating healthy.
Thanksgiving day – 6 tips how to eat healthy
Number 1 tip is, of course, for the turkey
The turkey is a symbol for Thanksgiving day. It’s not Thanksgiving if there’s no turkey. Well, luckily for you, turkey is lean meat and it’s considered healthy. One tip to make it even healthier is tossing the skin. Although the skin is one of the favorite things you would like to eat, it’s loaded in bad fat. The skin causes high cholesterol and blood pressure.
Don’t starve throughout the day
Another important mistake we all make is starving during the day and wait for the dinner, right? Let’s be honest. It turns out that that’s against all the rules for healthy living. You should eat your normal breakfast, have some healthy snacks and lunch. If you wait for dinner, you know what happens. You overeat and you’re ready to explode. That’s because you’re eating various types of foods and your body cannot digest it.
Drink water!
You know water helps you feel fuller and you eat less when you’re consuming lots of it. This trick is perfect for Thanksgiving. Drink a lot of water before and during dinner. When you drink before dinner, you leave not much place for food in your stomach. Additional water during dinner will give you the necessary feeling of fullness. Also, you’ll limit other soda and alcohol consumption if you’re duly hydrated.
The most important tip? Stay away from sweets!
Of course you cannot completely stay away from sweets, we’re with you on this one. But try at least to eat a small-sized cookie, piece of pie or cake. No refills. In case you’re still craving after a nice piece of sweets, grab a fruit.
Immediately leave the table after you’ve eaten your part
Seriously, this is the best tip you can get. As soon as you feel full and you’re done eating, get the hell out of the dining room. Go take a fresh air or something. You know that if you stay you’ll be tempted to try something more… might as well eat the leftovers. True, right?
Help cleaning up
If you’re the host, good for you; you’ll have your physical activity cleaning up. But if you’re not, make sure you volunteer giving the hostess a hand. In this way you won’t spend the rest of the night sitting, you’ll be active and hopefully burn some calorie, and you’ll be of help. Great combination, right?
Happy Thanksgiving day, have a nice family time!
