Furthermore, there are many other problems that you could face which are not in connection with bacteria and germs; the smell. Sometimes, your toilet smells like sewer, and you have no idea why. Actually, this is usually due to some pipeline problem, but in most cases it can be solved with some cleaning agents.
As we concluded that these products are not safe for our health, let’s look at how you can make your own homemade toilet cleaner. This cleaner will efficiently neutralize and eliminate bad odors, keep you safe from germs and bacteria and it will actually make your toilet smell fresher than ever!
If your toilet smells like sewer, make this homemade cleaner:
- 160g of baking soda
- Half a tablespoon of vinegar
- 60ml of lemon juice
- 20 drops of your favorite fragrant oil
- One tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide (you can buy this in the local pharmacy)
What you’ll need to do is first mix the baking soda with the lemon juice in a bowl. Then, in another bowl mix the hydrogen and the vinegar and slowly, one drop at a time, add them into the bowl with the other mixture. Now that the mixture is almost ready, add the drops of fragrance oil of your preference. This will give a touch of freshness in your bathroom.
Now, what you’ll need to do with this mixture is prepare half-ball shaped toilet cleaning tabs. Take a parchment or baking paper and using a spoon, take one spoon of the mixture and make half-ball shapes.
Once you make them, leave them dry at least 4 hours, or better, overnight. When you see that they are completely dry, you can store them into a glass container or a jar which is air-tight and use them when you need them. Every time you notice that your toilet smells like sewer, just take one tab and drop it into the toilet. The best option is to drop one on every 3 days.
